Last Quarter Moon in Pisces Candle Ritual

๐Ÿ•ฏ๏ธ Last Quarter Moon in Pisces Candle Ritual

June 8, 2026 | Moon Shine Spills Ritual Blog

A ritual for releasing what has run its course, surrendering with grace, and trusting the deep current carrying you toward what is next.

The Last Quarter Moon is the exhale of the lunar cycle. The Full Moon has crested and passed. What was illuminated has been seen. And now the sky slowly empties itself of light โ€” not as a loss, but as an act of sacred clearing. This is the moon that asks you to do the same.

Release is not always dramatic. Sometimes it looks like quietly deciding to stop carrying something. Sometimes it looks like writing a name on a piece of paper and watching it go. Sometimes it looks like sitting still long enough to feel what you've been outrunning โ€” and choosing, at last, to set it down.

This week, that release moves through Pisces.

Pisces is the sign of the mystic, the dreamer, the empath who feels everything and has learned, slowly, how to let the current do the work. It does not release through will or strategy. It releases through trust โ€” the kind that comes from knowing, deep in the body, that the tides are intelligent and the river always finds the sea. Pisces teaches us that surrender is not weakness. It is the most advanced form of wisdom there is.

Neptune, Pisces' ruling planet, governs the invisible world โ€” the dream space, the veil between what was and what is coming, the soft dissolving of what no longer has a form to hold it. This ritual works with that energy. It invites you to soften your edges a little. To let something move through you and out of you. To trust the unseen current that has been guiding you all along.

You do not need to understand it fully to release it. You only need to be willing.

Use whatever tools you already have. Your intention is the magic. (If you'd like a handcrafted altar set or pendant, Moon Shine Spills offers custom orders.)

๐ŸŒฟโœจ Items You Will Need

Basic Tools

  • A candle (any color you have; suggestions below)
  • Three small bowls (water element โ€ข crystals โ€ข herbs)
  • A surface for your altar
  • A tray or dish for written intentions or reflection
  • A pendant or small wearable talisman
  • Paper + pen (optional)
  • Optional: incense or essential oil

๐ŸŒ™โœจ Moon Shine Spills Altar Set | Each piece in this set was handcrafted in resin to hold and amplify your intentions throughout the ritual. Use what you have, or explore a custom set made just for you โ€” custom orders are always open.

  • Center altar tray โ€” the heart of your ritual space, a place to gather intention and hold what matters most
  • Intention tray โ€” a smaller vessel for your written intentions, folded prayers, or anything you are consciously releasing or calling in
  • Incense holder โ€” cradles your incense as it opens and clears the space before the ritual begins
  • Herb bowl โ€” holds the botanicals chosen to support surrender, emotional clearing, and Piscean depth
  • Element bowl โ€” holds your water element, reflecting the fluid, feeling-forward wisdom of this sign
  • Crystal bowl โ€” holds your stones, charged and ready to anchor the energy of release throughout the ritual
  • Pendant or talisman โ€” charged during the ritual to carry the energy of this moon with you as you move forward

๐ŸŽจ Suggested Candle Colors | Choose whichever you have available:

  • Purple โ€” spiritual depth, the wisdom of Pisces, and the sacred act of surrender
  • Light blue โ€” intuition, emotional flow, and the soft release of what has been held too long
  • White โ€” clarity, energetic clearing, and the luminous space that opens after release
  • Silver โ€” the Moon herself, the tide, and the cycles that carry us even when we cannot see the shore
  • Pink โ€” compassion, self-forgiveness, and the tenderness of releasing with love rather than grief

(Any candle is fine โ€” these are simply supportive options.)

๐Ÿ’งโœจ Suggested Water Elements | Use any one of the following โ€” or a combination โ€” to represent Pisces' boundless water energy and the fluid wisdom of conscious release.

  • A small shell or piece of sea glass
  • A smooth river stone or ocean pebble
  • Aquamarine โ€” fluid courage and the calm of deep water
  • Moonstone โ€” cycles, surrender, and the sacred rhythm of endings and returns
  • A few drops of water collected under the moon

(Even one water element is enough.)

๐Ÿ”ฎโœจ Suggested Crystals | Choose stones you already have on hand:

  • Amethyst โ€” spiritual clarity, dream wisdom, and the peace that arrives in stillness
  • Aquamarine โ€” emotional release, fluid courage, and the calm of deep water
  • Labradorite โ€” intuition, the veil between worlds, and trusting what cannot be seen
  • Selenite โ€” energetic clearing, spiritual alignment, and soft luminous release
  • Moonstone โ€” cycles, surrender, and the sacred rhythm of endings and returns

๐ŸŒฟ Suggested Herbs | Use any combination of the following, fresh or dried:

  • Mugwort โ€” dream awareness, intuition, and listening to what lives beneath the surface
  • Lavender โ€” release, peace, and the quiet courage of letting something rest
  • Lemon balm โ€” emotional gentleness, nervous system ease, and returning to center
  • Jasmine โ€” spiritual sweetness, emotional opening, and the beauty of surrendering to flow
  • Blue lotus โ€” deep meditation, the threshold of waking and dreaming, sacred dissolution

(Even one herb is enough.)

๐ŸŒฌ๏ธโœจ Suggested Essential Oils & Incense | Use scent to support surrender, emotional clearing, and the deep spiritual trust of Pisces. Choose what you already have โ€” scent is supportive, not required.

Essential Oils | Use one oil in a diffuser, on a cotton pad, or lightly anoint your candle holder or altar space.

  • Lavender โ€” the quintessential oil of release, rest, and peaceful surrender
  • Frankincense โ€” spiritual depth, sacred clearing, and the peace of what is complete
  • Sandalwood โ€” grounded stillness, the quiet center beneath emotional turbulence
  • Neroli โ€” emotional gentleness, releasing grief with grace, and soft renewal
  • Ylang-ylang โ€” dissolving tension, heart-opening, and surrender into the present moment

(One oil is enough.)

Incense | Choose something dreamy, ethereal, and spiritually clearing.

  • Frankincense โ€” sacred space, spiritual clearing, and the peace of completion
  • Lavender โ€” gentle release, calm, and the deep exhale of surrender
  • Sandalwood โ€” grounding presence and quiet spiritual depth
  • Jasmine โ€” spiritual sweetness and the beauty of emotional opening
  • Nag champa โ€” meditation, the threshold between worlds, and deep inner stillness

Optional Scent Intention: "I release with ease. I trust the tide. I am held."

๐ŸŒ— THE RITUAL

Arrange Your Altar Set

Place your altar tray at the center of your space. Set your three bowls around it โ€” one for herbs, one for your water element, and one for crystals. Place your intention tray nearby, and arrange your pendant where the candlelight will reach it.

Let the arrangement feel like a shoreline at dusk โ€” everything quietly present, the light softening, the water somewhere close. Nothing forced. Nothing hurried. Just space that has been made sacred by your willingness to show up.

Fill the Herb Bowl

Gather your chosen herbs โ€” mugwort, lavender, lemon balm, jasmine, blue lotus, or whatever you have on hand. As you add them to the bowl, breathe in their scent and invite the wisdom of release. Let the botanicals remind you that nature releases without resistance โ€” the tree does not mourn its leaves. It simply lets them go, and waits, and blooms again.

Fill the Element Bowl

Place your chosen water element into its bowl โ€” a shell, sea glass, aquamarine, moonstone, or a few drops of moon water. Touch it gently. Feel it reflecting Pisces' vast, fluid, feeling-forward wisdom. Water does not hold its shape. It takes the shape of whatever holds it โ€” and releases just as easily. This is the quality you are calling in.

Fill the Crystal Bowl & Place Larger Crystals

Add your smaller crystals to the bowl. Then take any larger stones and arrange them on and around the altar tray, letting them hold the space with quiet, grounded presence. As you place each one, imagine it already attuned to the energy of this moon โ€” the deep, Neptunian wisdom that sees beneath the surface and trusts what it finds there.

Light Your Incense

Place your incense in its holder and light it. If you are using an essential oil instead, diffuse it now or place a drop on a cotton pad nearby.

As the smoke rises and curls and dissolves into the air, say aloud or silently:

"I open this space to release, to trust, and to the deep current of Piscean wisdom. May what no longer serves me move through me and return to the sea."

Anoint Your Candle & Yourself

Take your chosen oil and anoint the candle, moving from the wick down toward the base to draw energy outward and release what is complete. Then apply a small amount to your wrists, your temples, or wherever feels right.

Take a slow breath. Let your jaw unclench. Let your shoulders drop. Let something โ€” just a little โ€” go.

Hold the candle in your hands (unlit). Close your eyes and imagine yourself standing at the edge of the sea at night โ€” the water dark and luminous, the tide pulling slowly away from the shore. Feel the sand shifting beneath your feet as the water recedes. Feel how the ocean does not resist the tide. It simply moves. It simply releases.

Ask yourself:

  • What have I been carrying through this lunar cycle that is ready to be released?
  • What story, what worry, what version of myself has quietly asked to be set down?
  • What would I feel like if I actually let this go โ€” fully, gently, and without looking back?

Say:

"With this Last Quarter Moon, I release what has run its course. I surrender with grace, with trust, and with gratitude for what this cycle has shown me. I am lighter now. I am ready."

Light the Candle

Place the candle on your altar and light it.

Sit quietly with the flame and reflect on:

  • What am I releasing tonight โ€” and what does it feel like to name it out loud?
  • Where have I been resisting the natural end of something? What has that resistance cost me?
  • What becomes possible when I stop holding on?

Allow answers to surface the way things surface from deep water โ€” slowly, unexpectedly, from somewhere beneath what you thought you knew. Pisces rewards those who are patient enough to wait for what rises.

๐ŸŒฟ Charge Your Pendant or Talisman

Hold your pendant in both hands. Let the candlelight catch its colors โ€” the soft lavenders and periwinkle blues, the seafoam and aqua of dreaming water and open sky.

Say or think:

"I infuse this talisman with Pisces' deep wisdom and the liberating grace of the Last Quarter Moon. May it remind me that releasing is not losing โ€” it is returning. And in the returning, I am made whole."

Visualize the pendant absorbing:

  • Pisces' compassion, intuition, and trust in the unseen current
  • Neptune's dreaming wisdom and the freedom of dissolution
  • The Last Quarter Moon's liberating, clearing, completion energy
  • The lightness of someone who has set something down and chosen to walk forward free

Place the pendant beside the candle to finish charging.

โœ๏ธ Writing Intentions & Reflection

This Last Quarter Moon in Pisces is not asking you to figure anything out. It is asking you to feel your way into release โ€” and to let the writing be a form of letting go.

Write a Release Statement | Write one clear, open sentence beginning with:

"I am releasingโ€ฆ"

Examples:

  • I am releasing the need to understand everything before I can move forward.
  • I am releasing the version of this story that kept me small.
  • I am releasing the weight of what I was never meant to carry alone.

Keep it honest. Keep it gentle. Let Pisces' current move through every word.

Journal Prompts | If you feel called to reflect more deeply, explore:

  • What has this lunar cycle asked me to see โ€” and what am I finally ready to release because of it?
  • Where have I been holding on out of fear rather than love?
  • What does it feel like in my body when I imagine truly letting this go?

Write freely. Pisces energy loves a page that feels like open water โ€” no borders, no pressure, just honest feeling finding its form.

Blending Both | Journal first, then distill your reflection into one honest release statement. Think of it as releasing a paper boat onto the current โ€” small, intentional, and trusting the water to carry it where it needs to go.

When you are finished, fold the paper away from you, sending your release outward with the tide. Place it on your tray or beneath the candle.

Say:

"I release this with love. I trust the current. I am lighter now, and I am ready for what comes next."

๐ŸŒ— Close the Ritual

Allow the candle to burn safely until it goes out on its own, or extinguish it intentionally when you feel complete.

You may choose to release your written intention after the ritual โ€” burning it safely, placing it in moving water, or burying it in the earth. Any of these honors the Piscean act of returning something to the larger current from which it came.

Carry or wear your charged pendant as a reminder that you have done something quietly brave tonight โ€” you chose to let go. And in that choice, you made space for everything that is already on its way.

Take a moment to honor the trust it takes to release without a guarantee. That is Pisces at its most powerful. That is the Last Quarter Moon at its most luminous โ€” shining not in fullness, but in the grace of letting go.
